Review of Mont Gravet 2012 Cotes De Gascogne

For my first review I decided to go out of my comfort zone: Today I'm reviewing white wine.

First up is a 2012 Mont Gravet wine. At $8-$10 dollars it is a good buy for people who don't like chardonnay (As I don't). Comes from the South West of France.

What actually piqued my interest in this win is the Gascogne region. I've always been a new world lover but like to dabble in the old world vines.

Nose: Very acidic smell- grapefruit and other citrus notes
Body: light
Flavor: Grapefruit forward, ending on a pleasant tartness with a little vanilla

Paring: Cesar salad, or any other application with oily fish or garlic as a main ingredient. The "fishyness" is cut nicely by the tart wine.

For the value, if you are tired of bringing chardonnay to a party, try this wine from France as a nice change up.

And don't freak because it is a screw cap, many wineries are switching to this. I'll be interested when this study concludes:
